Fate/Zero first thoughts

The new anime series, Fate/Zero is a beautiful anime. It closely follows its previous series, Fate/Stay Night, and does a better job in every way. Although there are only a couple episodes out at the moment, that doesn't stop the anime from leaving its mark on the anime world, and leaving everyone wanting more. It has action, along with drama, fantasy, horror, and romance, together to create a vivid, vibrant world.

Fate/Zero is a prequel to Fate/Stay Night, rather then them making for a sequel. This in no way makes the series less however, as prequels often are. Instead, Fate/Zero stands strong on its own 2 feet, and establishes itself as its own anime.

The art in the show is in one word, astounding. The sound is composed by the same staff from Fate/Stay Night, and everyone knows how wonderful that was. As there are only a few of episodes out at present, there hasn't been any progression between characters, or drama of any sort, but fans of the Fate series could care less! The first several episodes were awesome enough without them.

The plot follows Fate/Stay Night's protagonist' father, in the last Holy Grail War, and showcases the events that lead up to the beginning of Fate/Stay Night.

The anime also shows all 7 summoners. Unlike of Fate/Stay Night's take of only showing the two main (Rin, Shirou, with summons Archer and Saber). In a sense, this is good, as it gives the show some form of liveliness that the original was lacking (still, it was great).

The anime is only coming out in Japanese with English Subtitles at present, however we can hope that eventually there's an English version of it released.

You can however, watch Fate Stay Night English Dubbed or in Japanese if you would rather, as it was picked up years ago into English, by Geneon Entertainment.
